I was worried when getting my first Bengal cat that they
might be too aggressive or just too large for my little 3-5 pound
Chihuahuas. Now I laugh at this concern. All of my cats and dogs get along
very well. The hang out together, play together, and groom each other. I
think that if we had a problem, they might even nurse each other's babies.
Here are some photos of this warm and charming family.
All the animals like to help me work. Here you
can see me just finishing work and closing my computer. And around me are 4
Chihuahuas, Fawn Colored Munchkin and Star hugging my left leg, White
Snowbelle as a neck warmer, and Black & Tan Ebony watching over all from my
right shoulder. And our Singapura cat, Fairy Violina, plops down right in
the middle, just as she often does. I'm not sure whether she thinks the
Chihuahuas are cats or that she is a dog. But clearly she doesn't seem to
think they are of a different family.
Our Chihuahuas and cats love to cuddle together
and to play together. We can often find Singapura Fairy Violina playing
"puppy" with our white Chihuahua, Snowbelle. Here you can see the kids
(Munchkin, Snowbelle, and Fairy Violina) hanging out together on the sofa.
Star and Munchkin have both been outstanding
Chihuahua moms. Both of them have been very concerned about Kashika's
kittens. They even climb into her birthing box and much to my surprise,
Kashika doesn't seem to mind at all. They give a maternal cock of the head;
I wonder if they are saying, "What are those puppies doing with that cat?"
When the kittens cry they come running to help. Here you can see Chihuahua
Star helping Kashika care for her kitten.
